Zambia Super League side, Zesco United Football Club has entered the race to sign Ugandan goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya, ChimpReports has learnt.
According to reliable sources, Zesco has been closely monitoring Kigonya who has had a colourful 2019/2020 season at current club Forest Rangers Football Club.
The robust goalie has managed to keep 13 clean sheets in 23 league appearances this season, a performance that has attracted a bunch of teams going into the 2020/2021 season.
Other clubs which are reportedly interested in acquiring his services include Power Dynamos (Zambia) and Highlanders (Zimbabwe).
Before the league went into a forced break following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foresters were on top of the log with 46 points from 24 matches, a point ahead of second-placed NAPSA Stars who have a game in hand.
Kigonya joined Forest Rangers in 2019 from Kenyan Premier League side, Kakamega Home Boyz on a two-year contract that expires next year in January.
