Contrary to circulating reports, Zari Hassan is still the Tourism Brand Ambassador of Uganda.
Media has been awash with reports that the job was taken away from her and handed over to Miss Uganda 2018 Quiin Abenakyo after she made history by becoming the first Ugandan beauty queen to make it to the top 10 at Miss World beauty pageant.
Quiin is also the first Ugandan to be crowned Miss World Africa after emerging in the 3rd position at the beauty contest that took place in Sanya, China.
Stephen Asiimwe, the Chief Executive Officer Uganda Tourism Board has come out to clarify on the issue saying the board has not yet signed an agreement with Quiin.
According to Stephen, Zari and Miss World Africa have different roles and appeal to different markets.
He added that they hope to use Quiin to promote Uganda’s tourism worldwide while Zari will market the country’s tourism within.
Zari was appointed the tourism brand ambassador of Uganda in October and later on embarked on a campaign called ‘Tulambule Ne Zari’ that saw her visit different tourism sites like Queen Elizabeth National Park, The Equator, among others in a bid to market and promote the tourism industry.
