France 4-3 Argentina
Youngster Kylian Mbappe was the star man of the evening as France ousted Messi’s Argentina from the ongoing 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The PSG star has officially made his mark on the big stage with a brace as Les Blues rallied to a hard fought 4-3 victory.
Antoine Griezmann scored early in the game from the spot to put the 1998 winners in the a lead inside the 13th minute, but Argentina levelled matters with Angel Di Maria on target as it all ended all square at the first half.
In the second stanza, Gabriel Mercado deflected Messi’s effort on target to put the South American nation in the driving just three minutes from the restart, but that was short lived.
Benjamin Pavard scored a beauty with a sumptuous volley that went direct into the far corner before the hour mark.
France’s Mbappe then scored two quick ones in the space of four minutes, ten minutes from Pavard’s equaliser.
Sergio Aguero brought one back in the added time but it was late for Argentina to rally back in the game.
