Uganda Woodball Federation and National Council of Sports has on Wednesday flagged off a team of five to Chinese Taipei.
The team is to take part in the 2018 Taiwan International Open Woodball Championship.
The event which also doubles as the event where the 2018 International Woodball Federation General Assembly is tentatively scheduled to take place from 22-27 November 2018.
Uganda goes to Taipei with confidence after gaining experience from the Woodball World Cup where the team finished second overall.
Uganda’s contingent has Lilian Zawedde, Denise Nanjeru, Onesmus Atamba and Watson Mugume. Joseph Collins Ssemanda heads the delegation.
Key players like Nanjeru and Mugume paired up in the mixed double to win gold in Thailand while Zawedde and Atamba also paired up in 2016 in the World Cup held in South Korea.
It was also revealed that on the same event, Zawedde and Atamba and will be awarded by the International Woodball Federation having been among the 2017 top 12 ranked athletes in the whole world.
NCS’ officials Patrick Ogwel and David Katende urged the contingent to fight hard and raise the country’s flag atop.
