The Uganda women’s rugby team, the Lady Rugby Cranes, suffered their second defeat in the ongoing qualifier for the 2021 Women’s Rugby World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Cranes crushed to a 37-5 loss on Tuesday in their second game. They had lost 89-7 to the hosts, South Africa on day one last week.
The loss means that Uganda, with only one game –Madagascar- to go, can neither finish top to qualify directly nor second to warrant a playoff with South America’s winner.
In the other match played at the same Bosman stadium, South Africa proved no match to Madagascar as they wheeled to a 73-0 victory.
The result puts the hosts in a prime advantage to qualify as champions of Africa.
They face Kenya in the decider on Saturday as Uganda take on Madagascar.
Defending Champions New Zealand, England, France, USA, Canada, Australia, and Wales have already confirmed their places in the global showpiece.
