Women Film Initiative Set To Hold Second Creative Talks

Women Film Initiative is set to hold Creative Talks today December 18 at the American Center, Embassy Plaza, in Kampala.

The second edition of the project is to feature award winning Film Director Rehema Nanfuka, actress and media personality Malaika Nyanzi and Nisha Kalema on the panel that will be moderated by Media personality Consolate Namyalo.

The trio will discuss their multi award winning Ugandan film ‘Veronica’s Wish’ and share their experiences in the film industry, some of the challenges they faced during the making of the female led film and how they overcame them.

Last month, Rehema Nanfuka became the first female Film Director to win the award for best director at the Uganda Film Festival held in a night gala at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The theatre and Television actress and filmmaker, was recognized for her directorial role in ‘Veronica’s Wish’ movie.

Rehema is also well known for her exceptional roles in Queen of Katwe, Imani and Haunted Souls among others.

Creative Talks is a project that was coined by Women Film Initiative, an umbrella organization under Film 256, which brings together women film practitioners in Uganda.

Aimed at inspiring and luring more female creative talents in the film industry, the project kicked off last month at Makerere University with actresses Joanitta Bewulira-Wandera (The Last King of Scotland), Eleanor Nabwiiso (Rain) and screenwriter & Director Atwiine Lucky Lora (The Hostel) as guest speakers.
