Strong winds have destroyed part of Kyogo Primary School in Kamwezi Sub County, Rukiga district.
According to Julius Ndyagyenda, the school head teacher, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening during the heavy downpour.
Ndyagyenda says the rain accompanied with strong winds which started at around 6pm and lasted three hours first blew off the roof of four blocks that include the nursery section and P5 classrooms.
Ndyagyenda expressed worry that they may be hit by a classrooms crisis in case the government clears schools to resume operations now.
He adds that he has already alerted his bosses at the district for help.
Mujuni Munyambabazi, an area resident said that the strong winds also destroyed several gardens of plantations in the sub county.
Christopher Ndyabegyera the Rukiga District Inspector of Schools says he has already received a brief about the incident and asked the head teacher to compile a formal report about what happened so that it is presented to higher authorities for help.
