The wife of Kamwenge Town Council Mayor Geoffrey Byamukama, who last year accused police of torture, is dead.
Ms Viola Komugisha succumbed to a stroke and hypertension at Ibanda Hospital this week.
She was later laid to rest at her ancestral home Kitagwenda County Kamwenge district on Thursday.
Komugisha, 66, had battled hypertension for many years but the situation worsened when her husband was arrested last year as part of the investigation into the assassination of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Komugisha served as the LC 1 chairperson for Kikaritusi village in Kamwenge Town Council for the last 20 years.
During the burial, Byamukama described her as a caring woman who was patient and loved educating children.
Kibale County MP Cuthbert Abigaba eulogised the deceased as “trustworthy, loyal and down-to-earth.”
Speaking at the burial, Rt. Rev Bishop Edward Arinaitwe Bamucwanira asked Christians to live decently in preparation for God’s Kingdom.
