What You Didn’t Know About Nigeria’s Tekno

Augustine Miles Kelechi, born December 17, 1992, popularly known by his stage name Tekno Miles or simply Tekno, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter, producer, performer and dancer.

He is a decent of Bauchi state, born to a military father in Nigeria’s Army.

He grew up in several parts of Nigeria including Nassarawa, Kaduna and Abuja due to the fact that his father was a member of the Nigerian Army.

At the age of 8, Tekno Miles was enrolled in a music school where he learnt and mastered the rudiments of playing the piano and guitar.

Tekno was first signed under K-Money Entertainment.

His first single titled ‘Holiday’ was released under the imprint.

With featured vocals from Davido, ‘Holiday’ was positively accepted and gained massive airplay.

His rise to stardom before he got signed to ‘Made Men Music Group’ in 2013, his remix of Ice Prince’s ‘Oleku’ to ‘Onye ne kwu’ gave him a breakthrough.


He relocated to Lagos where he shot  to the limelight after releasing ‘Duro’ and ‘Wash’ a remix produced by Phyno in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

His songs have unique mix of Afrobeat, highlife and hip-hop sound.

Tekno’s music was inspired by American singer Chris Brown due to his dance moves.

Recently he signed a USD4m deal with Sony Entertainment joining his collegues Tiwa Savage and Wizkid.


His songs include; ‘Holiday’,’Onye Ne Kwu’ (featuring Ice Prince), ‘Dance’ ‘Shoki’ (featuring B Red), ‘GoLow’,’Zima’, ‘Jonzing’, ‘Anything’, ‘Duro’,‘Maria’, ‘Wash’, ‘Where’, ‘Pana’, ‘Rara’, ‘Yawa’, ‘Be’, ‘Samantha’.

Awards Won include; 9th Nigeria Music Viedo Awards as Best Pop Extra Video in 2015 and MTV Africa Music Awards as Best New Act in 2016.

Tekno has been featured in twenty songs including; ‘Give Them’, ‘Bum-Bum’, ‘Shaba’ and others.
