West Nile: Stolen Police Gun Recovered in Arua

Police in Arua has recovered an SMG Riffle number UG POL 48002035 with 9 rounds of Ammunition along the Vurra Customs road near Vurra customs border, Vurra sub county, Arua District on Tuesday night at around 10 pm.

According to Police, inquiries indicate that the gun in question was one of the 3 riffles stolen from Lobule prison in Koboko District about a month ago.

The West Nile Superintendent of Police, Angucia Josephine said that the two people who were carrying the gun were moving on a motorcycle towards Vurra customs during curfew time.

“Upon meeting the officers from police and Uganda People’s Defense Force on joint night patrols, they abandoned a black bag with the gun on the road and took off in disarray,” she said.

Angucia added that after chasing them but in vain, the officers came back to check the bag, only to find a gun with 9 rounds of ammunition.

“No arrest made yet, the gun is exhibited as inquiries continue under Vurra SD Ref 02/08/2020,” she added.
