Uganda vs Lesotho
Mandela National stadium
Uganda can book an early ticket to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations if they can secure maximum points against Lesotho over two legs.
Six points would move the Cranes to ten points with two games to spare in group L bearing in mind that two teams qualify from the group.
Cranes captain Dennis Masinde Onyango is aware of the aforementioned fact and thus indicates it is their target to earn qualification as early as possible.
” Our target is to get back to Africa Cup of Nations because it is our obligation as players to see the team qualify,” Onyango said in the pre match press conference on Friday morning.
” It is our hope that we can seal qualification as early as possible because it relieves us of pressure that comes in the final group games. We want to get three points at home and go to Maseru with confidence.” He added.
Asked about how hectic it is to play two games in a space of three days, Onyango stated that they are mentally and physically ready.
” Of course it’s tough playing two competitive games in a short time that includes traveling but as professional players, we are prepared for such mentally and physically and most importantly, we begin at home before moving to Maseru.”
Uganda hosts Lesotho on Saturday at Mandela National Stadium before traveling to Maseru for the return leg on Tuesday next week.
