Police has Tuesday afternoon said that they are yet to identify who shot dead Hon.Robert Kyagulanyi’s driver last evening in Arua town.
Police Spokesperson SSP Emilian Kayima told journalists at Police Headquarters in Naguru that they arrested some people suspected to have shot the bullets which lead to death of the driver.
“We arrested some people with guns” he said.
He was however quick to mention that “We are yet to know who really shot at him.”
He said that police and other security agencies have been deployed in Arua town and in all suspected black spots.
The heavy deployment he added that has restored the security situation and its now back to normal and business is carrying on as usual.
Kayima attributed the Monday chaos to supporters of opposition politician Kasiano Wadri who he said blocked the presidential motorcade and transport junction in Arua town.
He said Wadri’s supporters also pelted stones at the presidential official car hence smashing its hind wind screen.
The Police publicist also confirmed the arrest of five people in connection with the chaos that turned deadly.
The arrested according to police are Hon.Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi wine, Kasiano Wadri, Paul Mwiru, Mike Mabike and Vincent Zaake.
He however added that some of the suspects are currently detained at Arua and Gulu police station as investigations carry on.
On attacks of the presidential motorcade, Kayima said “It is a criminal act to attack the presidential convoy as it is provided for in the traffic act.”
He cautioned the public to desist from the act saying that it leads to regrettable consequences.
On elections, Kayima said police has enhanced security to enable the process to go on smoothly.
