Uganda Cubs National team Head Coach Hamuza Lutalo is optimistic ahead of their U-17 CECAFA/AFON Zonal qualifiers final group B game against Ethiopia on Friday.
The Cubs ran riot against Kenya 5-0 in the first group game on Wednesday to book a berth on the semi-final at Umuganda stadium- Rubavu in Kigali, Rwanda.
According to Lutalo, the team’s stellar performance didn’t come as a mistake and attributed their victory on good preparations hence expects to apply the same spirit against their next Opponents.
“We had good preparations for the match against Kenya and we shall continue with the same plans and preparations of the fixture with Ethiopia. We shall not undermine our opponents, we shall apply the same spirit, we want to play that game with superiority and show them that we are number one in East Africa.” Lutalo noted.
Oscar Mawa hat-trick together with Travis Mutyaba and Ronald Madoi strikes ensured an emphatic victory for Uganda Cubs who will play against Ethiopia on Friday at 4pm in Rubavu at Umuganda stadium.
The Qualifiers will draw two top teams that will make it to the 2021 Total U-17 AFCON Finals to be hosted by Morocco. Uganda is the defending champion of the tournament having defeated Ethiopia 3-1 in 2018 finals in Tanzania.
