We Are Still Trying to Bring Back Members That Left – Says FDC’s Amuriat

The President of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Hon Patrick Amuriat Oboi has broken silence on reports about internal wrangles within the party that have led to the break away of some Members of Parliament who were elected on the FDC party card.

Speaking to NBS this morning, Amuriat said while there have been some misunderstandings among party members, it should not be taken as the official party position.

He added that the party isn’t trying to alienate members and that those willing to come back are welcome.

“We have not given up on Abdul Katuntu, we have not given up on Odonga Otto, we have not given up on Angelina Osege. Paul Mwiru declared to have joined ANT but we still have hope that we can fish him out,” he said.

The Party President also noted that several senior party members were unhappy with his election and having been silent about it.

“I respect Hon Ibrahim Semujju Nganda very much because in 2018 after the party elections he informed me openly that he supported Muntu in the previous elections but since election period is over we shall be working together.”

On accusations that he has been a shadow behind Col Dr Kizza Besigye, Amuriat said he operates independently under known party principles

“I am not taking any orders from anybody; we have known party structures and FDC is known to be one of the parties which respects all its structures”

Speaking on the same show, Hon Angelina Osege faulted the FDC leadership for denying them chance to contest on the FDC flag.
