Uganda’s Cranes and Kyetume Football Club defender Mustafa Mujuzi has signaled readiness for the forthcoming 2021 CHAN tournament that kicks off on Saturday next week.
The former Proline defender banks on the Uganda Cranes’ stellar show in the just concluded pre-CHAN tournament where they emerged victors.
“We thank God who has enabled us to put into action whatever we have been given to see that we have topped the tournament,” the defender said.
He added, “We are ready enough to display what we have been taught by our coaches in our first game against Rwanda. These friendlies have helped us players to understand each other and the condition down in Cameroon.”
The mini-tournament saw the Cranes play to a 1-1 draw with hosts Cameroon before registering two successive victories against Zambia (2-0) and Niger (3-0).
Jonathan McKinstry’s side has however never gone beyond the group stages of the CHAN tournament in their four appearances and will look to defy odds come Saturday next week.
Uganda was pitted in group C alongside Togo, defending champions Morocco, and Rwanda who will be the Cranes day one opponents at the Stade de la Réunification in Douala.
