Wasswa Bbosa Blames SC Villa Management for 2016/17 Title Miss

Coach Wasswa Bbosa has put the blame on his former paymasters, Sports Club Villa for the club’s failure to win the 2016/2017 Championship.

Bbosa had joined SC Villa as an “associate” head coach for the remainder of the 2016/17 campaign having been relieved of his duties at Express due to a string of unconvincing results.

At the time, SC Villa was under Eng. Ben Misagga and Ivan Kakembo serving as the club president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) respectively.

However, the 16-time record league winners narrowly missed out on winning the championship, finishing four points below KCCA FC.

During an interview with Radio 4 on Thursday afternoon, Bbosa revealed the reason behind the team’s failure to clinch the title despite the fascinating displays earlier in the season.

“The management had internal wrangles within the club fighting Eng Ben Misagga’s presidency which dented our title hopes. Their conflicts affected the entire team which affected the players’ mentality and hence surrendering the trophy on the 11th hour,” he said

“I was meant to win the championship because the team was just few inches from the title. It’s when I was also given a four-match suspension from the touchline and all our hopes were eroded,” he continued.

Now at Express FC, Bbosa believes he is well underway of achieving the Red Eagles targets for the season.

He said, “I want to hit my main target set when I joined Express and I’m very optimistic about achieving my dreams if the league resumes and the season ends on the pitch. I want to finish in the top Eight and hopefully I can go on to achieve my targets provided the remaining five fixtures are played after the lockdown.”

Currently, Express FC is positioned 9th on the 16-team log, tied on points with 8th placed Onduparaka with only five fixtures remaining to wind up the 2019/2020 season.

Bbosa joined Express FC as a replacement for George Ssimwogerere. He had parted ways with Tooro United earlier this same season.
