Wakiso Giants Football Club midfielder Lawrence Bukenya and striker Viane Ssekajugo have been deemed fit to start training as the team prepares for 2020/21 season.
Both Bukenya and Sekajugo were on the sidelines towards the end of the previous season and didn’t feature in the club’s final games before the league was prematurely ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ssekajugo sustained a nusty injury in the club’s 2-1 win over Maroons at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium after being stepped on by goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo.
The forward was as a result dropped from the Uganda Cranes team that was preparing for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) before the tournament was later postponed.
Head coach Douglas Bamweyana believes It’s good to have them back in time ahead of the 2020/21 season kick-off.
Last season, Wakiso Giants finished 10th on the 16-team log in their maiden top flight experience and also reached the last 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
