Uganda Premier League side Vipers Sports club officially ushered in the new season with a function held at their home, St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
Vipers Sports Club crowned the outstanding players for last season (2016/17), the first time the club did so.
Skipper Nicholas Wadada was crowned the Most valuable player for last season for his consistent performance at right back.
Wadada was awarded with a cash prize of two million shillings plus a plaque.
The other players that were crowned on the night included Ismail Watenga who was named the most motivational player; Halid Lwaliwa was named the fan’s favourite player.
Others included Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye who was crowned the team’s most promising player.
Milton Karisa was also awarded for scoring the first goal at St. Mary’s Kitende. This came against Platinum stars in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Vipers begin the new season against Bright stars in Mwererwe on Tuesday.
