Ladies: VVC 3-1 UCU
Vision Volleyball Club (VVC) managed to defeat UCU Ladies to storm into the 2017 Aziz Damani National Volleyball League Finals in a thrilling game.
After winning game one, VVC once again picked a 3-1 win at the MTN Indoor Arena in Lugogo to edge the best of three series by 2-0 hence the would be game 3 becomes irrelevant.
“We were let down by a few things,” started UCU Ladies’ player Dinah Akello.
“The players in the front court lost confidence at the time the game was in our hands but I think VVC’s shooting and Service made it count for them.”
Just like in game one, UCU ladies started the better side and it was evident when they took the first set 18-25.
VVC managed to regain momentum as they won 25-18 and 25-21 to overturn the deficit and lead 2-1.
In the fourth set, UCU were destined to triumphing it until they threw away a 23-14 lead to eventually lose 27-25.
“We never gave up no matter the situation and our defence was really good,” said VVC Captain Joan Nabuto.
The victory means that VVC will face off with winner between Nkumba Ladies and Sport-S in the finals – Nkumba defeated Sport-S on Wednesday 3-0 in game one.
“We are not going to rest; we are going to Namboole to train for the finals.
“I thank all the VVC fans who came in large numbers to support us, and we will make them proud,” added Nabuto.
