Uganda Premier League champions Vipers Sports Club has taken advantage of the current lockdown to enhance further development on its home ground, St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
In their preparations for next season’s CAF Champions League engagements, the club management has decided to add more 600 seats in the VIP section with the expansion taking place during this lockdown.
The development, brings the VIP section to 1,225 seats, to be officially unveiled to the public at the crowning ceremony of Vipers’ 2019/20 League title triumph.
St Mary’s Stadium Manager Edward Junior Mulindwa was delighted with the capacity expansion.
“We have installed more seats in the VIP area to accommodate more fans seated comfortably while enjoying football next season,” Mulindwa told Vipers SC website.
He added, “Futher to that, we are also refurbishing all areas that may have been damaged during the regular season as well as equipping the stadium with other equipments to ease operations as we look forward to football next season.”
It should be noted that in March this year, CAF deemed St Mary’s Stadium fit to host international matches following a successful inspection tour by stadium inspectors Daniel Amokachi and Emmanuel Dasoberi.
