Sports Club Villa has chosen to deal away with embattled head coach Douglas Bamweyana as they head to their final Uganda Premier League match.
The record sixteen-time Uganda Premier League champion is facing the relegation scare after throwing away an early one-goal lead to lose 2-1 to Tooro United on Tuesday.
The result left the Jogoos just four points above the safety line with Ndejje University, who is in the red zone playing a catch up game on Thursday afternoon against Onduparaka.
The pressure from the fans of recent has forced the management led by Eng William Nkemba to relieve the coach off his duties.
Our sources at the club confirmed that Simon Mugerwa takes over in the interim as the club searches for a long term replacement.
“It’s true we had a meeting with the management and most players agreed that we needed a small change for now so that we can be able to survive. It was also agreed that Mugerwa takes over in our game versus Nyamityobora,” a player who preferred anonymity told this site.
Bamweyana started work at Villa on November 28th last year.
It has also been rumoured that former Kirinya Jinja SSS FC head coach Charles Ayiekoh has shown interest but the club has placed their priorities in getting a foreign coach.
