FDC ironman, Dr Kizza Besigye has shed light on his ‘Plan B’, saying it’s partly aimed at countering any attempts by the ruling government to rig the forthcoming elections in favour of President Museveni.
“We have flag-bearers in the 2021 election but I will stay in the background to deal with whoever tries to rig this election,” said Besigye.
The former FDC leader was addressing locals in Nyaruziba trading center in Kashambya Sub-county, Rukiga District, South Western Uganda.
Besigye, who joined FDC presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat’s campaign trail yesterday, further told crowds that he had not quit the struggle.
“Don’t think I abandoned the election. I am strategizing to ensure our election is not rigged again,” said Besigye.
“That’s why we have Plan A and Plan B. I am spearheading Plan B. POA is leading plan A,” he added.
Critics have queried the viability of Besigye’s ‘Plan B’ considering that previous campaigns aimed at encouraging an uprising against President Museveni have been nipped in the bud by security services.
Besigye was flanked by veteran politician and former Rukiga MP Jack Sabiiti, FDC Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi and Arans Tabaruka, the aspiring Kinkiizi East Legislator.
“On the ballot paper, look for the key which will open a new era of civilian leadership to subdue the guns,” said Besigye, adding, “You need to decide on distribution of resources because we a wealthy country.”
