The Uganda Tourism Board in partnership with the Uganda Gold Union are attempting to position Uganda as Africa’s premier golf tourism destination though the Uganda Golf Open Tour.
Over 1000 golfers attached to different clubs across the nation, under the arrangement, are set to traverse the whole country while playing golf.
According to Claire Mugabi the UTB Marketing Manager the Golf Open Tours will not only ensure that tourists visiting the country enjoy the sport and the country’s golf turfs but will also get to explore and experience the country’s different tourism destinations in the areas where the different highlighted gold clubs are found around the country.
“The growing investment in golf is for us an effort to increase he number of foreign visitors and enhance tourism revenue earned through this channel and our promise to the union is to support and encourage the golfers as they continue to promote destination Uganda, the pearl of Africa” she said.
Innocent Kihika, the President of the Uganda Golf Union said that their first stop will be on the 6th April in Mbale from where they will go to nine different courses across the country.
“We will be in Mbale Sports Club first then Tooro club, Namulonge, Mehta Club, Jinja, Mbarara Sports Club, Entebbe and Uganda Golf Club”.
