UTB Takes Families Out On Tourism Cycling

The Uganda Tourism Board yesterday the first ever family cycling event in which participants will visit all the tourism sites in Kampala.

The Jamii Social Ride is due on 30th September 2018, starting and finishing at the Uganda Museum.

According to a representative from the Uganda Tourism Board Herman Olimi the Jamii Social ride is a whole family affair which will involve parents, children, and relatives.

Olimi said the event will also be boosted by partition of officers and families of Uganda People Defense Force, Uganda Police and Prisons Officers.”

The cycling routes he said will be connecting various tourism attractions in the capital Kampala.

“We are sure the children will love to listen to stories and history of Kampala’s tourist attractions in the presence of their parents”.

For the families with insufficient or no bikes at all, he said bikes for hire will be available at Shs. 25000.”

And those that are not able to ride bikes, Olimi said, there will be site seeing buses.


While addressing journalists in Kampala, Olimi noted encouraged Ugandans to embrace cycling, noting that getting especially more corporates cycling to work would contribute to the protection of the environment by reducing car emissions.
