Uganda Tourism Board has kicked off the ‘Back to The Source Tours’ with Koshie Mills, a Hollywood power broker and visionary who is currently in the country for a 6-day excursion of Uganda.

The Back to The Source initiative looks to craft itineraries that speak to the African American cultural and travel requirements and was kicked off by the appointment of American Actor of Ugandan Descent – Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Uganda’s Goodwill Cultural Ambassador in the core North American market.
Guma was appointed by Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Hon. Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu.
Mills who in her work has created the Diaspora Dialogues movement and platform to mend the divide between Africans from the continent and African descendants within the Diaspora, yesterday kicked off her trip which comes at a time she is looking to create new destinations for African Americans to travel and find a connection to their roots and identity.
The Dialogues intend to ignite the long overdue conversations needed to create a better understanding of our different experiences but shared identity.
Koshie’s trip in Uganda kicked off in the Murchison Falls National Park and will continue to Kidepo National Park with a boat ride on the Narus River, a Karimojong cultural experience and a highlight trip to Fort Patiko; a key place during the Arab slave trade in Uganda.
It is said that slaves were a key trading item for the Arabs too and were captured from Northern Uganda, Gondokoro in Sudan and other areas. Slaves were forced to trek from Patiko, through Sudan and sold in Egypt.
While in Murchison Falls National Park Koshie was wowed by the park’s beauty, from the wild animals to the falls.
“Today, l was pleasantly surprised by Uganda; in fact, l was thinking why don’t we know enough about this country. The highlight of my game drive and boat cruise of Murchison Falls National Park were the many beautiful Giraffes and the powerful falls” Koshie said.
Koshie Mills is best known as a power broker and visionary in Hollywood. Born in Ghana, West Africa, raised in London, England and curated in Los Angeles, California Koshie’s initial experience in the entertainment industry came from over two decades of managing the careers of her three sons’ who have been successful within the television, voice over, modeling and film industries; Kwame Boateng (Everybody Hates Chris, The Plug), Kofi Siriboe (Girls Trip, Queen Sugar) Kwesi Boakye (Colony, Claws).
