Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC has taken another step in achieving their set objectives.
In their bid to return to the table of men, the club has on Thursday morning launched the new secretariat and opened up new offices.
The club has ambitions to make a mark in Ugandan Football for generations to come, according to club chairman Kizza James.
URA FC is one of the most successful club in the country – The tax collectors have won four league titles and three Uganda Cups.
However, the side is yet to taste league victory for over seven years with their recent league triumph dating back to 2010-11 season.
“We have embarked on short and long term targets that have to be attained with support from various stakeholders including main sponsors, the URA”, noted Kizza.
He added: “Club football world over is guided by activities which are organised and run by strong units that must be effective for the achievement of various goals. One such key unit, which we have identified in line with FUFA Club Pro Agenda for immediate attention is the club secretariat.”
The event was graced by FUFA vice president in charge of the league Hon Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, URA’s Ag commissioner General Henry Martin Saka and other URA officials.
Kizza thanked the Commissioner general for keeping a close eye on the club’s activities and supporting the project. He extended appreciation to FUFA for the guidance in setting up a football secretariat at URA FC: “Its through your tireless efforts to build capacity in football human resource that this goal has been achieved.
The secured office that will house the URA FC secretariat and help in running the day to day activities of the club, are located at URA offices in Nakawa.
“I pledge management support in every possible way to make the club not only a country but also a continental success,” noted Saka. “Am sure various activities have been lined up by the secretariat to see to this and I know life will not be the same around here.”
Saka highlighted that the event coincides with the many activities the Revenue body have enjoyed during the year one of which is it’s new state of the art home.
In her remarks, Nakiwala briefly noted: “I congratulate URA FC for opening their new offices, this comes at a time when Football is registering enormous success in the country.
Hope the offices are used for the purpose as outlined in the FUFA Pro agenda.”
URA FC are tenth on the league table with 14 points from 10 games. Together with defending champions SC Vipers, URA are still unbeaten in the league.
