Uganda Revenue Authority FC moved to third place on the domestic premier league table with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Express on Tuesday at Namboole.
The tax collectors nearly went ahead as early as the first minute when Ssentamu dinked in a cross for Rwothmio to head in but the keeper, Kyamera, was on time to save.
The visitors answered back with a good build-up minutes later but the end recipient Disan Galiwango painfully saw Alitho picking his rattling shot.
The attacker saw his freekick fly over the bar just a minute later.
Alitho was called to actuon at the half hour mark when he pulled off a spectacular save to keep Birungi’s shot away.
Rwothmio and Sempa came close to putting URA in the lead but the Express backline was resolute.
However, the defensive passwords in George Semogerere’s backline were cracked in the 77th as Ronald Kigongo gave the tax collectors their much-craved win.
The win propels URA to third with 42 points, one above Mbarara City who occupied that spot until then and three behind second-placed Vipers SC.
Express remain 11th with 29 points.
