The Uganda Performing Rights Society (UPRS) have held their first meeting since the year started to forge a way forward in addressing issues raised by the music consumers in the country.
During the meeting, UPRS board, whose main role is to collect royalties through licensing agreements with music users, decided that, they will reach out to all music users in the country to ensure maximum compliance for the benefit of the rights holders who elect them.
UPRS board is led by musician and writer Dr.Tee who was elected last year in June.
The meeting was attended by Afrigo band’s Joanita Kawalya among others.
The Uganda Performing Rights Society was formed in 1985 by authors to advance the cause of copyright administration in Uganda and is registered with the Registrar of Companies as Company Limited by guarantee, having no share capital as it belongs to all members.
