Express FC bounced back to their winning ways with a slim 2-1 advantage over Kirinya Jinja SSS FC on Wednesday at Wankulukuku.
Experienced striker Brian Umony pounced on a defensive error in the Kirinya box to stub in the opener in the 29th minute.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Kirinya head coach Abbey Kikomeko introduced youngster Jeromy Kirya in place of Nelson Mandela immediately after restart.
The change was worthy it. The midfielder grabbed the equalizer in the 58th minute through a well-calculated and taken free kick that squeezed in between the wall to Muwanga’s far angle.
The Jinja School boys failed to hold on as they conceded the second 40 seconds after restart. Left back Aurthur Kiggundu sent in a long cross from his wing into Kirinya’s danger zone.
The keeper, Sanon Mulabi, failed to communicate with his defenders and then mis-timed the cross and missed it before it bounced behind his net.
The result did not affect the table as Kirinya remained clogged on 8th place with 39 points and Express 11th with 36.
