Vipers SC head coach Edward Golola has urged his charges to maintain their current form if they are to win the 2019/2020 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
This came after the Venoms recorded their sixth win of the season with a 2-1 win against BUL FC on Tuesday at St. Mary’s stadium.
A win sent Vipers on top of the table on 20 points thanks to goals from Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye and Allan Kayiwa.
“The boys fought hard to make sure we got three points, a result that sends us top of the table. We want to keep this good form and the momentum ahead of our next games,” Golola said before adding.
Golola also praised the players for the display against the Jinja based outfit who had been in fine form since the beginning of the season.
“It is an important win for us as a team and gives us confidence in our pursuit to win this season’s league title. I was impressed with the boys because they were able to win the game against a tough team,” he noted.
The Kitende based club gaffer also praised Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye for a fine display during the game which saw him scoring the opener.
“Tumwesigye is one of the best midfielders in the country and he is one of our important players. We believe he has come of age and ready to deliver if given chance like he did today.”
“I’m not surprised because we train in those things, him being short does not matter because he knew where to go and he was in position to head home from the corner. Scoring a goal definitely will give him confidence to play better and fight for a position in the starting team,” he noted.
Vipers’ next game in the league will be a visit to Green Light stadium in Arua to take on Onduparaka on Saturday October 26th.
“We shall of course change our approach because Onduparaka is a different team with different tactics. Today we played a physical opponent so we had to adjust accordingly.
“It is always not easy to visit Green Light stadium but we have enough time between now and Saturday to see how we go about this game,” Golola further noted.
