Vipers SC skipper Halid Lwaliwa hailed a ‘crucial win’ for Vipers SC after the Venoms scored late to defeat Busoga United 1-0 away at the Mighty Arena in Jinja.
The game seemed like it was heading into a draw until Bobosi Byaruhanga scored in the stoppage time to earn the Venoms maximum points.
“It was an amazing win, we worked hard for it but deserved it more, l thought,” Lwaliwa was quoted by the club’s official website www.viperssc.co.ug after the game.
“The performance was good and the chances we created were very good though we needed more sharpness in front.”
“The goalkeeper made some top saves, we kept going, showed great mentality and deservedly got the three points.”
“The performance was brilliant for the lads, we deserved the three points and it’s a big win for us,” he added.
Vipers had never beaten Busoga United away since they joined the Uganda Premier League during the 2016/17 season on three attempts.
“We know when we come here (the Mighty Arena) it’s not easy and they put on good performances always but they have good players, and on their day they can beat anybody.”
“We knew that, we had to be prepared for that and we were. We kept going right until the end and thankfully, we got the three points,” he noted.
Vipers will return to action on Tuesday November 5th against Wakiso Giants FC at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende aiming for yet another win.
