Tooro United got a surprise 1-0 win against defending champions KCCA FC on the match day six of the 2019/20 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season at St Paul’s Seminary Grounds on Wednesday evening.
Charles Musiige scored the all-important goal in the 75th that separated the sides as Tooro United made a big statement on return to Fort Portal.
Visitors KCCA FC showed the anxiety for the win and would have gone ahead as early as the eighth minute but debutant John Odumegwu shot an inch off the post.
Tooro Captain Kawooya was sent off in the 31st minute for handball in the area which kept out odumegwu’s volley off the line.
Mike Mutyaba took the responsibility for the resultant penalty but goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige was equal to the challenge to keep the score level.
Three minutes later, Mutyaba was brought down by Samuel Luswata in the box but still Kibirige denied Okello from the spot.
Despite being one man down, Tooro United reserved time to score in the 74th minute when Musiige beat John Revita before slotting the ball past custodian Charles Lukwago.
This was the third for Tooro United, it took them on nine points from six games, KCCA remained on six points from three games so far played.
