UPL: SC Villa Loses Third Consecutive Game Following Busoga United Defeat

SC Villa’s mediocre performance in the league continued with a defeat from Busoga United to mark their third consecutive loss in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The Eastern side team won their second successive match on Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over Villa at Namboole coming after a 2-0 win over Express last week.

To add salt to Villa’s injury, it was defender Moses Kiggundu’s 75th minute own goal that decided the match.

Bashir Mutanda hit the post in the second half after Ronald Magwali and Nicholas Kabonge had fluffed Villa chances in the first half.

Busoga were the more organised of the two sides and thrice threatened Villa goalkeeper Saudi Keni before the lively winger Ivan Wani set in a low level cross from the left that Kiggundu unfortunately connected into his own net.

Villa coach Edward Kaziba hopes key players Ambrose Kirya, Ashman Alishe, Moses Kibumba and Kigundu quickly erase their awful performance before they take on Vipers on Friday at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.

SC Villa are fifth on 27 points while Busoga are a place and 3 points below the 16-time league champions.
