Football derbies world over are defined by passion, stiff competition and eternal rivalry between the two opposing teams.

It is not any different for the Jinja derby between Kirinya Jinja SS and BUL FC and such is the anticipation ahead of the showdown on Sunday at the Mighty Arena.

Two teams that are almost on the same  footing with BUL FC in 6th position on 19 points just two places and two points above Kirinya Jinja SS.

Therefore, the clash on Sunday will be about who takes the bragging rights on the day.

BUL FC under the stewardship of Peter Onen won their last game against Onduparaka FC and will hope to carry the same momentum in today’s game.

Onen believes his charges are in perfect shape and ready to go for maximum points against the School side.

” It was important that we won against Onduparaka FC in mid week because that gives us confidence ahead of the derby. The team is in good shape and ready to fight for three points.” Said Onen.

BUL FC will make the shot trip to the Mighty Arena without Hamidi Tibita, Yunus Sibira and Villa Oromchan who are all sidelined with injuries.

On the other hand, Kirinya won two successive games for the first time this season edging Express FC and Paidha Black Angels with an identical score of 1-0.

The School side have also gone five games without conceding a goal something that head coach Charles Ayiekho prided in.

” It is important for us to have a stable back line because defences in most cases win you points even when you fail to score. Douglas Muganga and Isaac Isinde have been playing well with their experience being vital to the team.”

Joel Madondo with seven goals will be the biggest threat for BUL FC defence who need to be alert throughout to stop him.

Godfrey Akol and skipper George Kasonko are still ruled out due to injuries.

The last meeting between the two teams ended in a one all draw.
