Express FC were on the receiving end of a ruthless Police as the cops disfigured the Red Eagles 6-1 at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo on Wednesday.
Derrick Kakooza and Pius Kaggwa each helped themselves to a brace, with Ben Ocen netting his customary strike and Peter Mutebi an own goal in one of the Red Eagles heaviest defeats in history.
The result intensified pressure on coach George Ssimwogerere, who is likely to suffer more fan backlash.
Striker Kakooza put the hosts ahead inside the first minute, finishing in an empty net after Express custodian Mathias Muwanga and his backline misread a teasing cross.
It was 2-0 on six minutes, thanks to another defensive mix-up to allow forward Kaggwa to execute a brilliant finish.
Kakooza made it 3-0, looping the ball beyond Muwanga. The fourth goal was a masterclass of coordinated Police interplay that saw Kagwa control on the edge of the area before sending a low drive that kissed the net on its way in.
Ocen made it 5-0 for his 11th of the season before Express substitute Peter Mutebi netted an own goal.
Disan Galiwango’s late strike for Express was only for consolation.
Police leapfrogged their opponents, who are now 12th, two places and points above the relegation zone.
