Edward Golola marked his return to Vipers SC on a perfect note registering a commanding result against Onduparaka FC in the game played at St. Mary’s stadium on Tuesday.

Returning to the club for the third stint this time as head coach, Golola guided Vipers SC to a 3-0 win. This was the first win for the Venoms after drawing the last two games (against Tooro United and Bright Stars FC).

Geoffrey Wasswa, Dan Sserunkuma and Livingstone Mulondo scored a goal each in the second half for the Venoms to eventually win the game.

Golola made three changes from the team that played against Bright Stars FC with skipper Taddeo Lwanga returning to the starting lineup. He replaced Brian Nkuubi while debutant Innocent Wafula replaced Duncan Sseninde on the right flank. Tito Okello started in place of Davis Kasirye.

Right from onset, Vipers SC looked the better side making several inroads at goal.

Tito Okello had the first attempt at goal in the 9th minute but his strike sailed over the goal area. Midway through the game, he had another opportunity after being set up by Moses Waiswa but his low drive at the near post was saved by Onduparaka FC goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato.

On the other hand, Viane Ssekajugo, Caesar Okhuti and Ezra Bids had attempts towards Vipers SC goal but were not effective going forward.

Three minutes into the second stanza, Vipers SC broke the deadlock through Wasswa. The versatile player capitalised on a defence lapse by the visitors to tuck home the opener.

Sserunkuma

Sserunkuma doubled the lead in the 52nd minute with a well curled strike that caught goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato off guard.

Vipers SC called for changes introducing Abraham Ndugwa for debutant Wafula while Brian Nkuubi replaced Waiswa.

Mulondo putting the game beyond reach for Onduparaka FC scoring his first goal since joining the Venoms from Kirinya Jinja SS at the start of the season.

The centre back jumped high to head home Yayo Lutimba’s delivery from a corner to the delight of the home fans.

Victory means Vipers SC remain second on the log with 29 points seven behind KCCA FC who won 1-0 away to URA FC but the Venoms have two games in hand.
