UPL: Mutyaba’s Strike Ends Vipers’ Unbeaten Run

Muzamiru Mutyaba scored the only goal which collected all the three points for KCCA FC during their 1-0 win against Vipers SC to put an end on their unbeaten run in the Startimes Uganda Premier League at Startimes Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday November 16th.

The Kasasiro boys put a foot forward from the onset with quick attacking football that troubled the visitors’ backline.

Gift Ali had the game’s first moment of offensive promise but his effort was parried wide by Mutombora in the 3rd minute.

In the 8th minute, Mike Mutyaba was fouled on the edge of the box and Kizza’s resultant freekick was saved.

KCCA FC had a couple of missed chances thereafter with most of the action in the visitors’ half. Kizza whipped his free-kick an inch over the bar in the 19th minute.

On 27 minutes, Sekisambu dribbled past his marker and crossed to Nunda who headed straight to the keeper in what seemed to be the game’s best chance at the time.

In the 31st minute, Sekisambu left Venoms’ Kayondo for dead and crossed to Keziron Kizito who dummied and Mutyaba pounced with a hard hit that had a deflection and hit the back of the net thus sending the home fans in a mega frenzy.

After recess, the visitors made a change by introducing Allan Kayiwa for Innocent Wafula, the former disturbed KCCA’s defence with several attacks but couldn’t find the back of the net for his side.

Siraje Ssentamu also had two attempts on KCCA’s goal but one of them went wide begging while the other one went over the bar.

Nunda had the chance to stretch KCCA’s lead when Keziron set him up but his effort went wide.

In the 86th minute, KCCA’s custodian Jamil Malyamungu made a point-blank save by saving  Kayiwa’s bender from close range to keep his side in the lead.

KCCA FC now has 22 points from 10 games and will face tax collectors URA FC next on Wednesday 20th November at Startimes Stadium, Lugogo while Vipers are still on the top of the table with 33 points from 14 games.
