Paul Mucureezi made a debut to remember for Vipers SC when he found the back of the net to give Vipers a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kyetume at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
Mucureezi got the fans singing his name early on with a pin-point shot in the eighth minute to help the Venoms to maximum points to regain a four-point cushion at the top of the log with 39 points after 16 outings.
Marksman Fahad Bayo nearly doubled Vipers’ lead but his effort went wide in the 20th minute. Three minutes later, he headed wide yet another chance.
The lanky striker finally thought that he had finally doubled the lead in the 72nd minute when his headed effort off Nkuubi’s cross rattled the upright and seemingly crossed the line but the assistant referee thought otherwise.
Vipers are now four points ahead of KCCA FC on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League log as the Venoms are targeting title victory at the end of the season.
