Mbarara City FC 1-0 BUL FC

Mbarara City FC marked their return to Kakyeka Stadium with a 1-0 victory over visiting BUL FC in one of the three StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played on Tuesday.

Paul Mucureezi scored the all important goal as the hosts stormed the summit for the first time in top flight.

The victory sends Mbarara on top of the log temporarily with 16 points from eight league games.

Mbarara have won five games, drawn once and lost twice so far. Mbarara’s defeats came against Ndejje and Nyamityobora. The side shared spoils with KCCA FC in Lugogo.

The Ankole Lion’s have taken maximum points off Express, Maroons, Villa and Paidha Black Angels.

BUL FC slumps a place down to fifth with 14 points. This was the club’s second loss of the campaign after Tooro United.

Mbarara City missed the services of striker Makueth Wol who is set to captain South Sudan against Uganda in the U23 AFCON qualifiers.

The Visitors missed Hamisi Tibita who is part of the Kobs team that will face off with South Sudan on Wednesday at Lugogo.

It should be noted that FUFA had barred Mbarara to use Kakyekya Stadium as it wasn’t in good conditions recently to host league games.

BUL FC have not picked maximum points against Mbarara in three attempts. Last season, the side lost 2-1 in Kakyeka and the game ended goalless in Jinja.

What they said:

Mbarara City FC assistant coach Baker Kasule:

I thank my players who played with great responsibility, we scored one goal today and it has been enough to give us the all three points.

It wasn’t a good game, we had a rough start, the visitors looked strong but we fulfilled our dream of reaching at the top, which I think is a big achievement in out town.

Mbarara City team captain Asuman Alishe
We are happy for this victory, it all went on plan as we had promised our fans to win our first game on our return at Kakyeka, being on top is a great milestone, so we thank our fans and we urge them to come with us as we play our next game against Police FC.

What Next for Both Sides?
Mbarara will look to continue with their impressive form with a visit to Police FC at the StarTimes Stadium on November 30.

BUL FC will seek to make amends when they play host to the visiting Vipers in Njeru on November 30.
