Mbarara City FC 3-0 Kirinya Jinja SS
Mbarara City FC registered their biggest win this season on Wednesday with a comfortable victory against Kirinya Jinja SS.
The Ankole Lions ran riot past the visiting school side securing a 3-0 win in the game played at Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara district.
Sudanese import Makweth Wol, forward Paul Mucurezi and youngster Jude Ssemugabi scored a goal apiece to guide Livingstone Mbabazi’s charges to a commanding result.
The win moved Mbarara City third on the log with 27 points with one game(against Vipers SC) to end the first round.
On the other hand, Kirinya Jinja SS coached by Charles Ayiekoh slipped to 10th place with 19 points.
Missing a couple of players, the visitors were always going to find a torrid time to get a good result away in Mbarara.
The centre back pairing of Isaac Isinde and Douglas Muganga were for the first time this season missing in action.
Isinde is away in Malaysia working on a transfer while Muganga was ruled out of the tie due to card accumulation.
Equally, striker Joel Madondo who has netted nine goals so far missed the game due to the injury he sustained in the one all draw against URA FC.
Mbarara City too on the other hand missed some of their key players including first choice goalkeeper Ali Kimera and striker Karim Ndugwa on loan from Wakiso Giants.
The duo received marching orders as the Ankole Lions drew goalless against Onduparaka FC in Arua last week.
Their voids were filled by Muhammad Ssekeba and Wol respectively and indeed helped the team to victory. Ssekeba kept a clean sheet while Wol got the opening goal of the game.
Mucurezi doubled the lead at the stoke of halftime before Ssemugabi sealed the icing on the cake in the second stanza for his first goal at the club.
This was the first time that Mbarara City was winning against Kirinya Jinja SS who beat them home and away(2-0 and 1-0 ) last season.
