UPL: Maroons Hopeful As Mwebaze Meets Former Team Again

Tuesday, December 11
Maroons Vs Nyamityobora, 4:30 PM

Maroons will play host to Asaph Mwebaze’s Nyamityobora on match day eleven at Luzira Prison grounds in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

This will be the second meeting and visit between Coach Mwebaze and his former club Maroons FC in the league this season.

Maroons picked their first and only league win this season with a 1-0 win over Mwebaze coached Onduparaka then.

The loss, marked Mwebaze’s last game in charge of Onduparaka and he consequently resigned about three days later to join the Abanyakare.

“It’s a game that I think will be diffucult because they (Naymityobora) are coached by Mwebaze,” noted Maroons’ coach George Best Nsimbe.

Nsimbe who was speaking to this website exclusively after the club unveiled their new sponsor at Serena Hotel in Kampala on Monday afternoon, added: “We will look to put up our strong performance and I believe that these are kind of games that we have to be winning. We have to utilise our scoring opportunities.”

It should be noted that Maroons received a financial boost of Sh130M from Virgin Gold Sunflower Oil and the club will play in their new branded kits.

Three points separate 13 placed Maroons and second from the bottom Nyamityobora. The hosts have seven points from one win, four draws and five losses.

Mwebaze who has been in charge of Nyamityobora for only two games will be in search for his first win since taking over. He lost against Villa and Tooro. The visitors are on a six game winless run!
