Kirinya Jinja SS 1-0 Express FC
The Mighty Arena
Kirinya Jinja SS registered their first win at their new home ground, the Mighty Arena with a slim victory against Express FC.
Joel Madondo, the club and league top scorer netted the solitary goal on Saturday to hand the school side their first home win this season.
It should be noted that Kirinya Jinja SS shifted from Kyabazinga stadium in Bugembe where they used to host games and relocated to within the school premises.
However, their opening four home games had ended in disappointments with no win registered. They had three draws(2-2 vs SC Villa, Vipers SC and a goalless draw against Maroons plus a 3-0 loss to Onduparaka FC.
It was until the fifth attempt that the desired victory came with sharp shooter Madondo scoring nine minutes from time.
The first stanza literally produced nothing to write home about with both teams playing a cautious game.
There was a heavy downpour as halftime approached until when the players returned to the pitch for the second stanza.
On a slippery playing surface, Kirinya proved the better side and dominated proceedings as the visitors fell back to defend in numbers.
The decisive moment arrived in the 81st minute when Madondo who was largely quiet in the game rushed at the near post to head home from Nelson Mandela’s cross.
Despite efforts for Express to step up in a bid to at least salvage a draw, Kirinya remained composed at the back until the final whistle.
After the game, Express FC fans hurled insults towards their coach Kefa Kisala and told him to step down.
