UPL: Kirinya In ‘Good Shape’ Ahead Of Express Visit

Saturday, December 8

Kirinya Jinja SS Vs Express FC, 4 PM

Kirinya Jinja will play host to Express FC at the Mighty Arena in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League this Saturday in Jinja.

The School boys are ready for this encounter, if we are to take what head coach Charles Ayiekho said.

“The team is in good shape; we are not conceding goals like we used to but again the strikers are not scoring. We have gone three matches without conceding and two without scoring a goal,” said Ayiekho as quoted by Club website.

Kirinya Jinja SS are yet to win a league game at home this season from four games – Three draws and one loss.

“I know we have too much pressure when you mention teams that have not won a game at home. And I think the players are also feeling the pressure and they are working very hard to erase that. I am confident that we will win tomorrow and ease some pressure off our shoulders.”

Kirinya’s only two league victories came on the road against Tooro United and Nyamityobora FC.

Ayiekho’s charges are tenth on the 16 team log with 11 points from nine league games.

On their position, Ayiekho explained: “We have not been doing well so far but sometimes, football needs time. I still have trust in my boys that they will get in line and start doing what everyone expects from us.”

“We shall witness the changes very soon. I am not worried about the team because we have lost only two games but we need to improve on the winning touch.”

Kirinya will miss captain Geoffrey Akol and George Kasonko due to injuries while forward Joel Madondo will require a late fitness test.
