Express FC 0-2 Onduparaka FC
Onduparaka picked a routine win over Express FC in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played on Saturday.
The Caterpillars won 2-0 at the Betway Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
Goals from Ezra Bida and Gadafi Gadinho in the second half gave the visitors deserved maximum points.
Speaking after the match, Onduparaka’s interim coach Simeon Masaba commented: “It was a good game, and am proud of my boys for putting up a good show.”
“The win, away from home, gives us confidence and belief ahead of next games. We played as a team.”
The result extends Onduparaka’s fine record against the red Eagles – This is Onduparaka’s third win over Express in five league attempts. The Red eagles are yet to beat the Arua team.
Express FC Second Best
The Red Eagles struggled from the start as the visitors controlled proceedings right from the start.
The hosts’ striker Tony Odur got his first chance of the game but he fired wide from Ntambi’s cross in the seventh minute.
Four minutes later at the other end, Ssekajugo Viane was denied by Keeper Mathias Muwanga at close range.
In the 20th minute, Odur got an open chance from Badru Nsubuga but his shot was saved by Sebwato – Badru’s rebounding kick was deflected into a corner.
Sekajugo kept knocking: He arrived late to miss Ezra Bida’s delivery in the area before trying a volley later on which went an inch over the bar.
In the second half, Express’ Eric Kambale went for power from a distance but his rocket was easily collected by Nicholas Ssebwato.
In the 50th minute, Bida put the visitors in the lead before Gadinho doubled the lead from a thunderous effort six minutes later on.
Express Coach Kefa Kisala brought off John Revita and Ibrahim Kayiwa for Mubarak Nsubuga and Michael Birungi to throw more bodies in front but the side couldn’t break Onduparaka’s wall.
The win takes Onduparaka to fourth on the log with 17 points from nine games. This is the fifth victory this season, for the side who recently lost coach Asaph Mwebaze (to Nyamityobora FC).
The loss is the second for Express FC this season, the first came in the hands of Mbarara City at Kavumba Recreation centre. Express remain on 13 points.
Next for Express and Onduparaka are games against Kirinya Jinja SS (Jinja) and Paidha Black Angels (Arua), respectively.
