Police FC games have lived as advertised, and against Kirinya, the fans watched more than they paid for.

Questions were raised before kickoff whether Kirinya Jinja SS will put the ball at the back of the net, after Madondo Joel missed on the match day squad, but the answer was negative until the 66th minute.

Police took a deserved early lead in the 5th minute when Johnson Odong picked a misplaced pass and directed his effort, from a tight angle, into the far corner.

Jeromy Kirya had a chance at the other end to equalise but custodian Devis Mutebi was equal to the effort, to keep it out for a corner.

Odong doubled the lead when he was set free by a long ball from the defense to slot home in the 37th minute.

The visitors made an early change to combat Police’s bombarding attacks – Wilson Makuro paved way for Cranes International Isaac Isinde.

Kirinya started to crawl back into the game but couldn’t score before the break.

Kirinya Jinja came back stronger and the side continued to knock on the door. Dan Ssewava came on for Fred Amaku at the hour mark and the forward made an immediate impact.

Six minutes after his introduction, Ssewava with a keeper to beat fires into the roof to halve the deficit.

Kirinya almost levelled the score but Muganga Douglas’ half volley inside the area went over the bar.

Faisal Muwawu equalised in the 75th minute with a header to silence the vocal Police band.

Ssewava who looked to be in an offside position had his close pass beat the keeper but couldn’t find Faisal Muwawu, as it was blocked by Ibrahim Kibumba.

With the game destined for a stalemate, Mugume finished off a good build up to fire home what proved to be the winner.
