A Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) Soldier is admitted at Mbarara Regional Referral hospital in Mbarara district after he reportedly fractured his arm while on duty.
The injured soldier has been identified as Pte. Jevantine Ochola attached to the 17th Battalion in Irenga, Ntungamo district.
He was on patrol when he sustained the injury.
The Rukiga Resident District Commissioner Pulkeria Muhindo, who is also the head of the District Covid-19 taskforce says that the incident happened on Monday night in Kamwezi Sub County.
The RDC says the officer fell badly while jumping off a patrol pick up and broke his arm.
Muhindo said that the soldiers were dispersing bodaboda riders who were organizing a meeting that night to prepare for a demonstration which was to be held Tuesday.
The RDC says the victim was rushed to Kamwezi Health Center IV and later referred to Mbarara Regional Referral hospital for further management.
