A pregnant woman was reportedly left fighting for her life after she was allegedly assaulted by a one Charles Omoding, a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier.
Ms Winny Awino, 18, a resident of Abongo-Okere Village, Tarogali Parish in Ibuje Sub-county, claimed the soldier beat her badly after she denied him sex.
Awino who is currently hospitalized at Apac hospital alleged that her assaulter is among those currently providing security to Hillside Investment Limited, a company dealing in palm oil at the government ranch.
Awino who is five months pregnant said Omoding threatened to shoot her with a gun if she did not adhere to his command.
“The soldier then beat me up to a point where I couldn’t cry anymore. He later took off when he saw some people coming towards my home,” she said.
However, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces Spokesperson Richard Karemire confirmed on twitter that the suspect has been arrested and detained in cells pending investigations.
He added that Omoding will be handled according to the laws.
