The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has in its custody a South Sudanese musician after he was allegedly found with a gun and bullets.
The artiste, Okeny Rom Grace alias “Wangaras Suspect” was allegedly found in Palabek Kal Sub-county in Lamwo District and is currently held at the army 4th Division headquarters in Gulu.
The 4th Division spokesman, Maj Caesar Olweny confirmed the artiste’s arrest, adding that he was found with an SMG with about 15 bullets.
“If you are a citizen of another country you are not supposed to enter another country which is not of your origin with a firearm. This man committed a lot of criminalities,” said Maj Olweny.
He added that the suspect was found with two dead wild animals, which he described as poaching.
Maj Olweny said the army’s action was prompted by increasing cases of infiltration of South Sudanese armed men into Uganda through Lamwo.
In recent months, South Sudanese armed men have attacked Lamwo and looted property, especially cattle.
