The Uganda People’s Congress have Wednesday issued a road map to conduct primary elections for the forthcoming polls for LC I and LCII administrative units, as well as for the women councils.
The chairman, UPC electoral commission Hajj Mahmoud Kazimbiraine said the opposition party was looking forward to actively participate in the exercise.
“Its high time UPC provided leadership once again to this country especially at grass root level,” he told press on Wednesday.
“The party is aware that a lot of its members are sitting quietly on the countryside; we therefore call upon them, wherever they are to come out and contest for the leadership of their villages”.
Kazimbiraine announced the party primary election preparations as follows.
14th to 30 September: Compilation of village registers for all members and women, youth, persons with disability, older persons and workers.
2nd to 8th October: Establishment of branch executives where they don’t exist.
11th to 14th October: identification of party flag bearers for LC1 and women committees.
