The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) is tonight set to start road repairs along Jinja Mukono highway and some parts of the road shall be closed, Chimp Corps report.
According to a notice released by the authority this evening, sections of the highway between Bweyogerere and Namanve will be temporarily closed to traffic starting 10pm.
“UNRA through our Kampala station will do emergency repairs on some sections along Kampala- Mukono highway and we have contracted ENERGOPROJEKT NSKOGRANDNJA AD to execute the work,” reads part of the notice.
The traffic shall be diverted to Namanve industrial park, Namboole and other alternative routes.
The road agency stated that the planned works include but not limited to granular sub base of 200mm and base construction of 100mm thick asphalt.
UNRA said the works are intended to improve the pavement surface for road user comfort and to reduce on the prevailing traffic along that specific section as a result of poor road surface.
The repair project shall strech from spear motors in Nakawa and Mukono.
The construction works will last nine months.
